The first National Farm Building Code of Canada (NFBC) was published in 1960. Subsequent editions were published in 1965, 1970, 1975, 1977, 1983, 1990, and 1995. The Model National Energy Codes for Buildings and Houses were published in 1997. NFPA codes and standards, administered by more than 250 Technical Committees comprising approximately 8,000 volunteers, are adopted and used throughout the world. The National Building Code of Canada 2015 (NBC), published by NRC and developed by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes, sets out technical provisions for the design and construction of new buildings. It also applies to the alteration, change of use and demolition of existing buildings. Over 360 technical changes have been incorporated in this new edition.

- National Farm Building Code The 1995 version of the NFBC (as amended periodically) outlines minimum requirements for human health, fire safety, and structural sufficiency in farm buildings. Definitions found in Appendix A of the Treasury Board Policy on Management of Real Property also apply to this standard.
- Building and Fire Codes June 2003 The attached pages identify the fifth revisions to the National Building Code of Canada 1995. The revisions have been approved by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes. The fifth revisions are identified by an r5. Where changes to the document number and/or title have been made in Tables 18.104.22.168.

BC Building Code 2018. The BC Building Code (BCBC) is a provincial regulation that governs how new construction, building alterations, repairs and demolitions are completed. This code establishes minimum requirements for safety, health, accessibility, fire and structural protection of buildings and energy and water efficiency.
